What will you do as Vehicle Test Instrumentation Engineer?
Every day will be different. We are currently building and testing our final validation vehicles before going into production soon. Many tests are happening as I am writing this. All vehicles must be instrumented, all with different equipment and signals. You connect these to data acquisition systems or to our in-vehicle Over-The-Air loggers for analysis in the back-office (even while driving). Your position consists of tasks such as:

  • Instrument systems-under-test as well as test benches and vehicles with a variety of sensors: thermocouples, currents, voltages, strain gauges, pressure sensors, accelerometers, yaw rate or gyroscope sensors, etc.
  • Most work this year will be to instrument our many prototype vehicles
  • Connect, calibrate and check analog and digital signals
  • Maintain instrumentation, settings, calibration databases: overall and per test set up/vehicle and per system-under-test
  • Build your own extra analog and CAN/LIN-wiring harnesses and connectors if needed
  • Program latest and greatest software, and define CAN matrix where appropriate
  • Select sensors as per instrumentation requirements
  • Calibration of the sensors
  • Fault finding and propose rectifying actions for sensors, wiring, analog and digital signals
  • Work and interact with engineers from the proto, testing and design teams to ensure instrumentation on the vehicles and test benches work as per requirements

Sounds like a dream job right?
