Vehicle Test Coordinator

Do you have at least 4+ years of experience in (vehicle) testing?

Are you the one that makes sure all Lightyear One vehicle validation and sign-off work is executed according to the project plan and (even exceeding the) expectations?

Join us on our mission!

Full-time · Helmond / Remote

Where: The Automotive Campus in Helmond, part of Brainport: the heart of Europe's innovation
Domain: Operations - Testing
Experience: At least 4 years (in a similar role)
Degree: Bachelor's degree (in Automotive or Industrial Engineering)

Working at Lightyear is a unique experience. You get the opportunity to work for a company with a pure and meaningful mission. A mission that will make a positive and lasting impact on future generations.

What will you do as Vehicle Test Coordinator?
You will become part of the Testing Domain within the Operations Circle. As Vehicle Test Coordinator at Lightyear you will take a hands-on role in helping us design the world's first commercial solar car.

As a Vehicle Test Coordinator you will have the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Owning (and thus deciding) of the prototype vehicles planning: planning all prototype vehicle usage from forecasting for budget reasons till managing daily schedule changes.
  • Collecting all stakeholders’ requirements and balance them with the project priorities and plan.
  • Understanding and supporting the vehicle project plan and the vehicle attribute and systems’ tuning, calibration and test deliverables.
  • Arranging all test executions with the vehicles, both internally and externally.
  • Keeping all prototype vehicles running according to timing, maintaining their configuration and fix them quickly. You make sure all vehicles are optimally used 24 hours/day.

A day as a vehicle test engineer

You will start the day with collecting and sharing the status of each test and each vehicle as it is at that moment. Then you grab a coffee, tea, whatever you need to prepare for the daily meeting. Here you'll discuss and have to decide upon any changes to the plan on the spot. Maybe you will join some more stand-ups today, why not? Then the chasing part starts! Go chase prototype technicians to fix vehicles, engineers to update vehicle software and deliver new parts. After all that chasing you get quite hungry, so decide to have some lunch (together with all the colleagues you just have been chasing, should be fun)!

After lunch, you take a vehicle for a quick drive to check it is performing as expected before handing it over to the marketing team for a day. Once that is done, you look into your agenda and see the following tasks you'll need to tick off your list today:

Call with a test facility in Spain to book tracks, equipment and support ✔

Arrange transport ✔

Then it's time to relax (a bit)... As Lightyear is still a young company, you have plenty of opportunities to make your mark in our processes and tools with collaboration with the rest of the testing team. You regularly have discussions with the team and join our Friday week review before heading off to our epic Friday (online) afternoon drinks and at the end of the week having a highly contributed feeling about the achieved results! Building the way forward for Lightyear.

Let's start by saying Lightyear is very flexible in terms of your working hours, we offer near-full remote working with any office equipment we need to work ergonomically (and a work-at-home budget to upgrade your internet). If needed, or desired, you can spend your working time at our modern office at the Automotive Campus close to Helmond (travel allowance included). Here you can enjoy a good cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate, fresh fruit and experience the buzz of the office and the labs/workshops.

Job specific:

So, let's assume it's Friday, you chose to come to our office and the first thing you do is grab your favourite wake-up drink before rolling into your first task of the day:

Then, it's finally time for your well-deserved Friday afternoon drink or you participate in one of the fun activities our happiness team comes up with!
