Working at Lightyear is a unique experience. You get the opportunity to work for a company with a pure and meaningful mission. A mission that will make a positive and lasting impact on future generations.

What will you do as an Embedded Software Quality Expert?

As a Software Quality Engineer you will be part of a team that is focussing on improving and extending the tools that are used by the other software engineers to assess and report on the quality of their software. You will select, configure and develop tooling like style checkers, static analyzers, code- and test coverage measurement and set them up such that your colleagues can use it. Whether that means running locally, in our CI environment or both: you always keep usability in mind. To make sure it satisfies the requirements from a safety perspective you will also interact with Functional Safety experts.

Of course, software quality is not just a number with a green color. Creating a support base among software engineers by spreading the message on how to achieve quality and the benefits of the supporting tools is key to success. Therefore, excellent social skills are essential. You will furthermore guide and support the engineers that use the tooling:

  • Discuss and decide on what are good metrics and when to fail a CI build automatically
  • Determine the concrete highest priority issues to focus on for projects
  • Discuss the whether checks (e.g. MISRA violations) can be suppressed
  • Train people on how to use tooling
  • Educate people (also non-software) on how to interpret the results
  • You take the feedback from this to streamline the process and improve usability for the engineers that use the tooling.

You can consider it your personal mission to:

Define and assess the Lightyear software quality standards. Enabling your software colleagues to develop high-quality software that will result in a safe and reliable vehicle for our customers!

What do we expect from a Software Quality Expert?

  • Communicatively strong in explaining the how and why of quality rules

  • C/C++, Python and Git have no secrets for you
