Where: The Automotive Campus in Helmond or remotely. For some (also senior) roles we are accommodating people to work from outside of the Netherlands for the majority of their weeks. What will you do as Software Integration & Test Engineer Engineer?
Lightyear is growing immensely! You will become part of the Software domain within the Technology Circle. As an Integration & Test Engineer at Lightyear, you will take a hands-on role in helping us design the world's first commercial solar car.

Collaborating with multiple teams, engineers, and testers you will be in charge of the integration process of the software that plays a pivotal role in realizing the core functionality of our Lightyear One. You will work in a multidisciplinary environment, involving Software, Hardware, and electronics. You can consider it your personal mission to ensure that all the software components come together in perfect harmony. Of course, nothing ever is perfect, but if we get there, it’s because of you! Your job will consist of but is not limited to:

  • You are responsible for the Development of test cases and new methods to accelerate the integration task

  • You will create and support build variants
  • Design and implement integration solutions across the different systems of the vehicle, evaluating existing components or systems to determine integration requirements and ensuring Lightyear quality standards
  • Maintain and enhance continuous integration environments
  • Monitor and enhance testing of real-time environments
  • Ensuring successful integration of software systems and components across hardware platforms, according to specified requirements (either working independently or supervising a team of engineers)
  • Defining and verifying requirements and technical documentation related to the implementation of new features
  • Active participation in planning, designing, implementing, and executing of tests within the frame of a specific project
  • Development of test plans and test procedures, performing risk analysis when required
  • Participation in custom integration tests designing and functional specifications reviews to identify open issues

What do we expect from an SW Integration & Test Engineer at Lightyear?
In order to succeed in the dynamic world of Lightyear pro-activity, professionalism, communication, and adaptability are crucial. We are looking for people with an ambitious attitude who learn from the past (tried and tested) and who strive to set new standards when needed. You can work within the team or independently and you plan your budget and time well. You are flexible and can work under pressure. Furthermore, we are looking for someone with:

  • A Master's or Bachelor's degree preferably in Embedded Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent
  • At least 3-5+ years of full-time relevant experience in the field of embedded software/ integration and testing
  • Working-level knowledge of C, (sometimes C++), Python, Matlab, and Simulink

  • Jira is a must; Enterprise Architect and/or Jama a plus.

  • Understanding of modeling, simulation, and testing techniques
  • Familiarity with Automotive product development processes
  • Debug capabilities of end-to-end system flow
  • You have at least one year of relevant professional experience in and knowledge of required documentation and tracking systems, preferably Jira.
  • You have worked in agile companies and are aware that the traditional sense of requirements gathering, integration, and testing has shifted from thinking a lot up-front to just enough to start
  • Be introspective, always trying to improve yourself and the team around you

  • Fluent in English is mandatory 

  • Availability for 40 hours per week
