Full-time · Helmond / Remote


Where: Helmond or remote from the comfort of your own home office or in one of our hubs.
Domain: HR team within the People & Processes Circle.
Experience: at least 4 years of experience in a similar role. Experience in a fast scaling environment and/or high-tech is considered a plus.
Degree: at least a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. Praktijkdiploma Loonadministratie (PDL), or Compensation and Benefits Consultant (CBC)).

What will you do as a Payroll and Compensation Specialist?
The People Services team is the backbone of our HR team. As a People Services Specialist Payroll and C&B (this is how we call it!) you are responsible for a meticulous salary run each month. In addition you support our Total Rewards Manager in analyses and projects with regards to compensation and benefits.

You can consider it your personal mission to:
Make sure our A-players get the right salary exactly on time! You will be our ‘payroll’ guru and give the HR team the confidence they can rely on you in getting the well deserved salary at our A-players. In addition you are the right hand of our Total Rewards manager and together you develop our reward philosophy and bring it to life in day-to-day work.

As a People Services Specialist Payroll and C&B you will have the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Execute payrolling in time and in full with utmost precision in Visma Nmbrs
  • Correct HR and payroll administration: responsible for processing of mutations and resolving discrepancies
  • Provide information to our A-players regarding payroll and salary matters
  • Manage work expenses scheme (werkkostenregeling), pension contribution, holiday registration and sick reports
  • Support the Total Reward Manager in job and compensation analyses
  • Research job requirements and evaluate jobs to ensure we are competitive in the areas of salaries and employee benefits
  • Benchmarks jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges, including data submission to survey provider
  • Develop and improve processes and analyses related to payrolling and C&B
  • Initiate and draft policy changes or proposals
  • Support with regards to the set-up and maintenance of payroll and people/C&B data and processes in our (to be implemented) HR system.

A day as an People Services Specialist Payroll and C&B
Let's start by saying Lightyear is very flexible in terms of your working hours, we offer near-full remote working with any office equipment we need to work ergonomically (and a work-at-home budget to upgrade your internet). If needed, or desired, you can spend your working time at our modern office at the Automotive Campus close to Helmond (travel allowance included). Here you can enjoy a good cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate, fresh fruit and experience the buzz of the office and the labs/workshops.

Job specific:
So, let's assume it's Friday, you chose to come to our office and the first thing you do is grab your favourite wake-up drink before rolling into your first task of the day:

You start the day with some informal conversations with fellow A-players at our office. Next you have blocked time to finalize the data for the monthly payroll. Together with one of our HR administrators you do a final check before finalizing everything in Nmbrs. Before lunch you have a meeting with our Total Rewards Manager to discuss if we need to do additional benchmarking for some of our engineering roles.

And then you decide: it’s time for lunch!

You decided to go for a walk together with a few colleagues, because the weather is perfect today (the sun is ALWAYS shining in Helmond of course!). During walks like these, it's not all about work. You talk about when you will go mountain biking together or about what you have planned for the upcoming weekend.

In the afternoon you answer questions of employees and leads that have reached us through our ticketing system. And before starting the weekend you meet with some of your HR colleagues to discuss how to improve the process of job plotting, as currently this is sometimes a bottleneck in getting timely salary information for new roles in our fast growing organization.

Then, it's finally time for your well-deserved Friday afternoon drink or you participate in one of the fun activities our happiness team comes up with!

What do we expect from a People Services Specialist Payroll and C&B?
In order to succeed in the dynamic world of Lightyear; pro-activity, professionalism, communication and adaptability are crucial. We are looking for someone with an ambitious attitude who learns from the past but who is especially open to transforming new developments or ideas into the ‘tried and tested’ of the future! You thrive on working team based, but working independently shouldn’t be an issue. You are flexible and can work under pressure. Furthermore, we are looking for someone with:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field;
  • At least 4 years of experience in a similar role
  • Experience in a fast scaling environment and/or high-tech is considered a plus
  • Experience with Visma Nmbrs is a tremendous plus
  • Knowledge in job evaluation methodology. Korn Ferry / Hay is a tremendous plus
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and social legislation (e.g. WAZO) and eager to learn about HR topics and trends
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in the human resources compensation field and understanding of compensation practices and trends.
  • Strong data analysis skills and works easily with HR systems
  • Strong communication skills in English and Dutch; both written and verbally
  • Organized and structured by nature
  • Energized by supporting and servicing our A-players
