What will you do as an Organization Developer?
As Lightyear is growing rapidly, our organization needs to continuously evolve. While building the organization of tomorrow we believe we should always strive for a perfect balance between flexibility and fast growth. Beyond this, enabling people to get the most out of themselves in order to achieve Lightyear’s highly ambitious mission is key.

As an Organizational Developer you are constantly analyzing the internal ways of work and structures, to find where you can optimize and implement new projects to facilitate Lightyear’s growth. You have great analytical skills, and a ‘first principles’ mindset, and are able to go from challenges to a step-by-step project plan on how to find solutions.

You will become part of the Organization Development & Business Processes team. The team functions as a key figure in the organization, working closely together with Human Resources, Facilities, and IT. Together we are consistently looking for ways to improve the business. You’ll be working closely together with Lightyear’s Employee Happiness, our Business Process experts, and the lead of the team, but will probably interact with loads more!

  • Start up and implement projects related to Organizational structure; governance; team structures, and working methods
  • Identifying cooperation opportunities and challenges throughout the organization and breaking them down into hands-on project definitions
  • Assessing business structures, procedures, and processes in close collaboration with the business process experts
  • Directly collaborate with IT, Facilities, HR, and legal in our People and Processes Circle

You might wonder what a day in the life of an Organization Developer at Lightyear looks like?
You will start your Tuesday morning around 9 at the office. We kick off with a bi-weekly check-in with our team, with team members tuning in from their home station and some in the office (we are flexible on when we come to the office). Within our bi-weekly, we check in on how we are doing and update each other high level on the projects we are all working on. With our team working on very diverse topics; from internal communication, culture, and business processes, this is for some of us the only moment we see each other formally.

After this half-hour check-in, you have a meeting with a couple of colleagues that are part of the Culture Ambassadors group, a multi-disciplinary team that actively works on improving the company culture. One of the topics they have taken on is the Meeting Culture at Lightyear, and you get together with them to align on their plans and help them set up a project plan to formalize the meeting culture for Lightyear.

During lunch later that afternoon you go for a stroll with a couple of colleagues from other departments while gaining some XP’s for your Ommetje competition within your team. During these moments you’ll be able to recharge and casually talk about your plans for the weekend.

That afternoon you have some focused time to work out a project proposal for working methods at Lightyear. You define the most important stakeholders and plan meetings with the current employees that are scrum masters, as well as people that have experience in going through an agile transformation. During these meetings, you try to pose answer questions like:

  • How do we grow sustainably without slowing down the current processes?
  • How do we work efficiently while remaining flexible?

At the end of the day, you join the boxing classes that are being organized by your colleagues, you don’t even have to leave the campus to get some sports and activities going! More than ready for some rest and for the next day.

What do we expect from an Organization Developer?
In order to succeed in the dynamic world of Lightyear; pro-activity, professionalism, communication, and adaptability are crucial. We are looking for people with an ambitious attitude, who learn from the past (tried and tested), and who strive to set new standards when needed. You can work within a team or independently. You are flexible and can work under pressure. Furthermore, we are looking for someone with:

  • A degree in organizational psychology, organizational development, industrial engineering, or similar
  • At least 3-5 years of experience as an organizational consultant in a fast-paced technology environment
  • Extensive experience in project management and change management
  • Solid communication and presentation skills
  • Strong level of autonomy
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good leadership and collaboration abilities.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management skills
  • Excellent understanding of the English language is mandatory
