What will you do as a Manufacturing Engineer?

  • Develop new manufacturing processes
  • Determine layout of production workstations for product flow, ergonomics and efficiency
  • Create detailed Manufacturing Instructions to train technicians and line operators on new processes and equipment
  • Validate and characterize new equipment and fixtures for production implementation
  • Participate in Process-FMEA workshops
  • Create and maintain the manufacturing procedures and documentation such as process sheets, control plans and relevant documents.
  • Being a part or Battery Project team.In addition, we continually seek to improve our process by means of productivity, quality. Cost and other metrics.
  • Investigate our battery cell project deliverables as a manufacturing perspective

A day as a Manufacturing Engineer
It is Monday morning. You kick-off your day with your rejuvenating cup of coffee (or tea) and respond to some emails. After that, you have a meeting with the team and talk about urgent topics for the day. There emerges an urgent topic on which you can support your manufacturing colleagues to get the car into production. After this, you have time to focus on your Battery Cell project activities.

At noon you decide to go for lunch on the campus together with your colleagues. During the day you will work closely with Design Engineering, Quality and Production to take Manufacturing process changes and new Battery designs from initial concept through prototype development and into full production.

Finally, you call it a day and go home as you feel satisfied to help build a cleaner and sustainable future!

What do we expect from a Manufacturing Engineer?
In order to succeed in the dynamic world of Lightyear; pro-activity, professionalism, communication and adaptability are crucial. We are looking for people with an ambitious attitude, who learn from the past (tried and tested) and who strive to set new standards when needed. You can work within the team or independently. You are flexible and can work under pressure. Furthermore, we are looking for someone with:

  • A Bachelor or Master degree ideally in electrical engineering or similar but also for mechanical, or industrial engineering;
  • 5-10 years of work or internship experience together with impressive internship and/or university projects;
  • Experience in battery manufacturing;
  • Experience in AutoCad, CATIA or similar design programs;
  • Experience in Value stream mapping;
  • Experience in Six sigma, FMEA, problem solving techniques;
  • Experience in Predetermined motion time analysis techniques (like MTM);
  • Who is aiming a career in automotive manufacturing;
  • Good communication skills in English.
