Working at Lightyear is a unique experience. You get the opportunity to work for a company with a pure and meaningful mission. A mission that will make a positive and lasting impact on future generations.
What will you do as Logistic Engineer?
As our Logistic Engineer you are an important part of the Operations Circle. Your mission is to be the linking pin between our Vehicle Contract Manufacturer (VCM) and Lightyear with regards to all logistic affairs. Together with our VCM you need to set-up a smooth running logic process with an accurate information exchange between Lightyear and the VCM. But there is more! You will also design the logistical concept from scratch for the solar panel production. Once we are in production and we don’t have production losses or stops due to logistic problems you nailed it. How might a day go you wonder?
You are reading the notes of the meeting yesterday and start to think about the packaging concept for the production materials for the solar panel production. Manufacturing Process Engineering is waiting for input to design the production lay-out in a proper way.
Also the warehouse activities are screaming for your attention. To keep the stock in the warehouse under control which is difficult because everybody is walking in and out and taking parts because they are in a hurry to get the validation cars built, informing logistics is the last thing they think about, of course with all best intentions. The logistic operator dropped a few ideas to tackle this and you promised to have a look at it and organize a meeting with them to discuss.
Then the phone is ringing. Your peer at the Vehicle Contract Manufacturer is calling you. She has some burning topics she wants to discuss. You check your agenda and squeeze the meeting between other important activities planned. At the coffee machine you have a chat with some colleagues and their remarks spark your creativity and you find an out-of-the-box solution for a burning topic. You return to your desk and after a while you have a look at the clock and realize, wow it is already late in the afternoon. The day is again not long enough but home is waiting for you. You call it a day because it is also important to keep a good balance between work and private.
Your job will focus on but is not limited to:
Initiate continuous improvements and innovation in the execution of Lightyears plan
Defining and setting up agreements with the (internal) clients, suppliers and logistics partners about SLA and KPI’ s etc.
