Summary:
Where: Perhaps from your home office in the Amsterdam area with an occasional visit to our Lightyear HQ
Domain: IT
Experience: 2+ years on Bachelor level or 5+ years on vocational (MBO) level
DegreeBachelor degree, but we are open to candidates with a vocational (MBO) level with relevant working experience as well
Work Permit: We are unable to hire people from outside the EU for this specific role looking at the IND regulations.

What will you do as IT Application Engineer?
You will become part of the IT domain within the People & Processes Circle. 

The IT Application Engineer will divide his or her time between delivering support to users, acting on issues, maintaining applications and working on tasks in sprints related to new applications and/or functionality implementation projects.

As Lightyear is a young company you have plenty of opportunity to make your mark. You regularly have discussions with relevant stakeholders and the IT team. Of course, on Friday heading off to our (online) Friday afternoon drinks and at the end of the week having a highly contributed feeling about the achieved results! Building the way forward for Lightyear. Your job will consist of but is not limited to:

  • Be actively involved in and support further establishment of IT application landscape and workplace services
  • Collect and understand requirements from Stakeholders. Support with business process definition
  • Provide day-to-day application management for a wide variety of applications
  • Provide user support (hardware and software) and follow up on service desk tickets  (in the future this will be changed to specialists 2nd/3rd line support)
  • Ensure that users can make proper use of the applications and devices they need
  • Ensure high availability of those applications
  • Define and deploy best suited applications/functionality to address (new) business needs


What do we expect from an IT Application Engineer at Lightyear?
In order to succeed in the dynamic world of Lightyear pro-activity, professionalism, communication and adaptability are crucial. We are looking for people with an ambitious attitude who learn from the past (tried and tested) and who strive to set new standards when needed. You can work within the team or independently. You are flexible and can work under pressure. Furthermore we are looking for someone with:

  • A Bachelor degree in a relevant direction IT, Computer Science or equivalent. We are open to applications from IT engineers with a vocational level. 

  • At least 2+ years of experience on Bachelor level or 5+ years on vocational (MBO) level

  • Ability to keep asking the right questions, to get to the point and extract the real stakeholder needs (in stead of what people want or have in mind)

  • Knowledge on various operating systems (Windows, Linux, iOS) is considered a must

  • Experience in application landscape architecture

  • Experience in application support and maintenance

  • Certificates in management of typical IT applications and methodologies ( f.e. Scrum) is an advantage

  • You have an understanding of virtualization concepts (e.g hyper-v, vmware, proxmox) 

  • Development / scripting skills are considered a plus (e.g powershell, VBscript, python, php)

  • Experience with Gsuite, JIRA, JAMA and/or similar cloud based solutions is an advantage

  • Ability to work in dynamical multidisciplinary teams

  • Fluent in English is mandatory (Dutch is considered a plus)
  • Availability for at least 32 or 40 hours per week
