What will you do as a Content Marketing Manager?
The Content Marketing Manager ensures that whenever people (i.e., potential consumers, investors, funders) come across or interact with Lightyear worldwide through any channel, they get excited and inspired by what they see and hear. Her or his mission is to create a lasting impact with content that will tell Lightyear’s story in an unique, inspiring, and effective way, over all the different consumer channels we use.

Your job will consist of but is not limited to:

  • Develop a global multi-channel content strategy (long term) and manage Lightyear’s content calendar (short term) to fully support the company’s goals and priorities.
  • Plan and prepare Lightyear’s content with input from relevant stakeholders and have an integrated overview on what is happening where and when.
  • Deliver content in line with Lightyear’s brand identity to ensure it has the right tone of voice and visual identity, with help of our internal creative specialists.
  • Develop and try out new content concepts. Experimenting is a must.
  • Keep a finger on the pulse of current market developments (i.e., automotive, solar, sustainability) to ensure our content is relevant for our target audience.
  • Manage the on- and offline content, keep it consistent where needed and adapt to each specific channel to be more effective. Ensure everything is up to date.
  • Analyze the performance of the content and suggest improvements.
  • Align and work together with all channel owners (social media, CRM, event, etc.), PR and Product Marketing on the content strategy and calendar.
  • Closely cooperate with the creative team (i.e., designer, copywriter, producer).

A day as Content Marketing Manager at Lightyear
Let's start by saying Lightyear is very flexible in terms of your working hours, we offer near-full remote working with any office equipment you may need to work ergonomically (and a work-at-home budget to upgrade your internet). If needed, or desired, you can spend your working time at our modern office at the Automotive Campus close to Helmond (travel allowance included), or at our satellite offices in Amsterdam and Utrecht. Here you can enjoy a good cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate, fresh fruit and experience the buzz of the office and our labs.

Today is Friday, the last day of the week, time flies…
In the morning you will start by checking in with our production partner Valmet Automotive, to understand the production phase we are in and to discuss the content piece you want to use in our channels next week. After that you will join the Marketing team meeting, in which you will present the new topics for the coming six months that are on the content planning - including product and sustainability topics. Before lunch you find time to check your emails and share some questions with the Product Marketing triangle about upcoming product updates. 

At noon, you will have lunch with some colleagues and do a short lunch walk in the sun.

In the afternoon, you have a creative brainstorm session to give hands and feet to your new content topic for next year. You will discuss other car brands, sustainability topics and NGO’s, but also have a much broader look at topics and companies that are outside our branche. At the end of the afternoon you have a meeting with the creatives of the Brand & Experience team, to discuss the upcoming content per channel. This includes copywriting but also visual design. How does this all align with our brand guidelines and associations?

The day ends with a nice drink in our recently opened office in Utrecht. And if you are in the mood, this might continue in the city center… but that is totally up to you!

What do we expect from a Content Marketing Manager?
In order to succeed in the dynamic world of Lightyear pro-activity, professionalism, communication and adaptability are crucial. We are looking for intrinsically driven people with an ambitious attitude who learn from the past (tried and tested) and who strive to set new standards when needed. You can work within the team or independently and you plan your budget and time well. You are flexible and can work under pressure. Furthermore, we are looking for someone with:

  • At least a relevant Bachelor's Degree (i.e., anything related to Marketing)
  • About 7+ years of varied/ diverse Marketing experience
  • Thorough understanding of Marketing's core concepts, including Content Marketing
  • Fluent in English is required

  • Availability for 40 hours per week (but with flexible working hours)

In addition, someone with the following practical skills:
    • Being organized and structured

    • Project-, time-, and stakeholder management
    • Creative, critical, and bold thinking
    • Having a commercial mindset
    • Great interpersonal/ people skills
    • Ability to (always) think one step ahead
    • Ability to quickly adjust to changes in plans and industry trends

  • can think strategically, but at the same time don't mind rolling up your sleeves; 
  • are a people person, able to work with different types of people and teams;
  • dare to discuss, but also dare to let go of your initial plan (if necessary);
