A day in the life of a Chapter Lead
It’s a sunny morning, one of your team members calls you up to brag about their delivery, they’ve just implemented and used the new tip you forwarded and surely it really worked! They were twice as efficient and it left them with more time to help a colleague with the same issue. You celebrate the success with them and invite them to share this during the next chapter team meeting. It will really help the team’s quarterly objective to make deliveries more efficient and fun.

Shortly after, you have a regular performance meeting, the team member was late to show up, because they got stuck in refinement. Together, you discuss the next small step you want to walk. They ask you if they can be mentored, as they think they have it covered, but want feedback. You ask some questions from which you indeed agree that perhaps they have it covered. Perhaps they just want a pat on the back, so you agree to mentor them in the next meeting where this will take place, so next time you can celebrate the improvement and go to the next.

You end the day with a beerla (bi(er)la) with one of your new team members to get better acquainted and hear about their lives and stories.

What do we expect from a Chapter Lead?

In order to succeed in the dynamic world of Lightyear; pro-activity, professionalism, communication and adaptability are crucial. We are looking for someone who will lead the team without managing them and work from their own strength, with an ambitious attitude who learns from the past but who is especially open to transforming new developments or ideas into the ‘tried and tested’ of the future! You thrive on working team based, but working independently shouldn’t be an issue. You are flexible and can work under pressure. Furthermore:

  • A degree in a relevant field including an academic way of thinking;

  • at least 3 years of experience in a similar role;
  • Able to inspire others to become leaders
  • People oriented, looking at the strengths of the person and putting them to practice
  • Have and keep focus on the growth of the individual in line with the strategic need
  • Use of common sense and a smile
  • Work focused and at a steady pace with the team members towards improvements.
  • Like sharing knowledge and asking for help or pick things up together with other people
  • Must have: “Growth mindset”
  • Proficient in English;

On a personal level you can relate to the following characteristics; you are a quick learner with a studious mindset, you are someone who speaks up and shares his or hers opinion and you are meticulous in your work.
